Full Job Description Job Description:
The Director of Nursing organizes and administers all areas of Patient Care Services at the PPEC. The DON prepares PPEC Plans of Care following physicians orders, also develops, implements and evaluates facility services and activities. The DON is responsible for managing and scheduling the nursing department and assists other departments as needed. Ensures that survey standards, licensing, and certification criteria are met.
Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care to medically fragile children and special needs children Manages and direct nursing department to ensure optimal clinical outcome for all patients Create patient Plans of Care following physicians orders Complete intake process for new patients Facilitate referral process Coordinates meeting with parents Educate parents about disease prevention Overall direction, coordination and evaluation of clinical staff and day to day operations Ensuring that clinical documentation is completed in accordance with company policy and state regulations Reviews Policy and Procedures Manuals at least once a year Ensures that all program policies and procedures are adhered to Develop, implement and maintain quality assurance program for the nursing department Review complaint and grievances made or filed by department personnel Make sure Infection Control Policies are followed by all employees Meet with clinical staff and therapists to discuss patient care Serve as mentor and coach in order to foster a collaborative working environment Create weekly schedules Facilitates recruitment, training, performance management, supervision, retention and appropriate utilization of staff to promote efficiency and retention
Qualifications:
Ability to function in stressful and emergency situations Effective communication skills: both orally and written Ability to build relationships with patients, families and staff Strong problem solving, time management and critical thinking skills
Requirements:
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida 5 years' experience in Pediatrics (Inpatient or Outpatient) (PICU, NICU or ER-Pediatrics) Minimum 5 years leadership experience in Pediatrics Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
