Required:
Active Licensed Risk Manager (LRM) certification in good standing. The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for providing executive-level leadership, direction, and oversight of all clinical risk management, patient safety, quality assurance, and nursing-related operations across the organization. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and safe patient care while aligning clinical practices with organizational goals, regulatory standards, and best practices. The CNO serves as a key member of the leadership team, collaborating with executives, providers, and operational leaders to proactively identify risks, improve clinical outcomes, and promote a culture of safety and accountability. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRisk Management & Clinical Oversight Oversee all organizational risk management functions, including event reporting, investigation, and resolution Serve as the Administrator for RL Solutions and oversee the full event reporting lifecycle Review, investigate, and trend incident data to identify patterns and areas of clinical risk Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and improve patient safety outcomes Conduct annual evaluations of the Risk Management Plan and establish strategic improvement goals Present quarterly risk and quality reports to the CEO and Governing Board Patient Safety & Complaint Resolution Oversee patient complaint processes, including "You Matter" calls and emails, ensuring timely resolution Ensure appropriate response and service recovery strategies are implemented Review and approve written responses to health plans and external entities Monitor trends in patient feedback and implement process improvements Support leadership and staff through rounding and guidance when risk events are identified Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure organizational compliance with all state, federal, and regulatory requirements Oversee medical record reviews related to Notices of Intent and potential risk cases Maintain oversight of risk-related documentation and reporting Collaborate with Compliance, Billing, Coding, and Providers to ensure accurate and timely documentation Lead policy and procedure development related to clinical quality, risk, and patient safety Education & Clinical Development Oversee and support the development of risk management and patient safety education programs Partner with leadership to ensure clinical competencies and training align with best practices Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and quality improvement Emergency Preparedness Serve as a key leader in emergency preparedness initiatives Act as liaison with external emergency management agencies (e.g., Hernando ESF-8) Provide leadership during emergency events and coordinate clinical readiness across sites Clinical Leadership & Operational Support Provide executive-level clinical guidance to physicians, leadership, and clinical staff Collaborate with operations and departmental leaders to address clinical and risk-related concerns Support compliance audits and implementation of corrective action plans Work with external partners (e.g., BluOne) on risk tools, systems, and education initiatives QualificationsEducation & Certifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required Strong clinical background with experience in risk management, quality assurance, and leadership roles Experience Minimum of 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, risk management, patient safety, or quality assurance Experience with RL Solutions or similar risk/event reporting systems preferred Demonstrated experience in clinical operations and regulatory compliance Skills Strong leadership and decision-making abilities Excellent communication, investigation, and documentation skills Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and drive organizational improvements Strong organizational and strategic planning skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR systems Work Environment & Requirements Occasional travel to local offices for rounding, audits, and investigations Ability to sit, work on a computer, and manage administrative tasks for extended periods Occasional lifting of up to 10-25 lbs
