Job Summary We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic Director of Nursing Services to lead our nursing team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in nursing administration within long-term / skilled nursing, assisted living, or related healthcare settings. As the Director of Nursing Services, you will oversee all clinical operations, ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations, and promote high-quality resident care through effective and encouraging leadership and management of nursing staff. Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for nursing services, ensuring delivery of exceptional resident care aligned with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Supervise and mentor nursing staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional development and teamwork. Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, medical records management, documentation review, and all applicable healthcare laws including Medicare standards. Manage staffing schedules across shifts to maintain optimal coverage while controlling labor costs. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to accurately document resident information and care activities. Monitor clinical quality metrics such as MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in reporting for reimbursement purposes. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance resident outcomes and promote a culture of continuous improvement in care delivery. Qualifications Proven experience in nursing management within long-term care/skilled nursing facilities. Proven experience in assisted living facilities, home health environments and hospice care experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of long-term care/skilled nursing regulations. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and nursing best practices relevant to senior care. Demonstrated leadership skills with supervising experience in a healthcare setting; ability to manage multiple shifts effectively. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and documentation review processes to ensure compliance with healthcare standards. In-depth understanding of Medicare and Medicaid regulations, HIPAA compliance, and quality assurance protocols. Excellent communication skills to effectively lead teams, coordinate with physicians, and interact with residents' families. Management certification or licensure as a registered nurse (RN) is required; additional management or leadership certifications are advantageous.
