About the Role The Director of Nursing (DON) Registered Nurse (RN) is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing the entire nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care. This role involves strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practices to meet regulatory standards and improve resident outcomes. The DON will lead, mentor, and manage nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that promotes professional development and excellence in care. Additionally, the role requires close coordination with interdisciplinary teams to align nursing services with organizational goals and resident needs. Ultimately, the DON ensures that all nursing operations run efficiently, safely, and compassionately, enhancing the overall healthcare experience. Job Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. Supervise and evaluate nursing staff performance, providing guidance, training, and support to promote professional growth and high-quality care. Coordinate resident care activities and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize resident outcomes. Manage nursing budgets, staffing schedules, and resource allocation to maintain operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Lead quality improvement initiatives and participate in audits and inspections to uphold resident safety and care excellence. Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the state of Indiana. Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong knowledge of nursing education, resident care standards, and healthcare regulations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field. Experience working in long-term care. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and healthcare quality improvement methodologies. Demonstrated success in staff development and interdisciplinary team leadership.
