Job Description

Job Summary The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) provides key leadership in ensuring high-quality, evidence-based patient care across the Nursing Services department. Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), this role supports the planning, organization, staffing, and direction of nursing operations to maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, and accreditation standards. The ADON leads and supports departmental quality improvement projects and initiatives, evaluating performance data, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing action plans to uphold accreditation and regulatory expectations-particularly those related to AAAHC standards. Working collaboratively with other departments within Purdue University Student Health (PUSH), the ADON promotes patient-centered care and operational excellence. Serving as a resource for departmental managers, this position guides quality improvement practices, ensuring consistency, compliance, and continuous advancement of clinical standards. Giant Leap What We Are Looking For Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Indiana. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association. Five (5) years of nursing experience with skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties as assigned to this position.
Preferred:
Three years of nursing supervisor and quality improvement experience.
Skills:
Required:
Strong clinical knowledge of nursing protocols, procedures, and quality standards. Proven ability to lead operational and quality improvement initiatives across departments. Familiarity with accreditation, certification, and regulatory compliance (AAAHC, state, and federal). Skilled in data analysis, project management, and process improvement. Proficient in electronic health records, auditing, and IT communication systems. Effective communicator with strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Capable of working independently and collaborating across teams to achieve clinic goals.
