CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORK
Under the administrative direction of the FHC Chief Nursing Officer, performs administrative and clinical supervisory nursing work. Responsible for assisting the FHC Chief Nursing Officer in planning, managing, and coordinating the nursing programs and activities at the Family Health Centers (FHC).
EXAMPLES OF THE WORK

Directs and supervises professional and nursing support personnel activities at all sites, at the direction of and in the absence of the FHC Chief Nursing Officer. Assists the FHC Chief Nursing Officer and FHC Chief Medical Officer in coordinating the staffing of nursing personnel at all locations and coordinating staff activities, both within the nursing department and interdepartmentally as needed. Assists the FHC Chief Nursing Officer with recruiting, interviewing, selecting, and promoting new and existing nursing personnel. Evaluates and documents the performance of nursing personnel. Evaluates and recommends improvements to clinical healthcare procedures and services for patients and personnel. Assists in the development of nursing policies and procedures; maintains the nursing policy and procedure manual. Serves on the Infection Control and Quality Improvement committees, as well as other committees, as directed by the FHC Chief Nursing Officer. Coordinates nursing clinic activities and patient flow to other departments and clinic sites. Oversees the Cancer Screening and Promise (HIV) programs, including, but not limited to, staffing, training, scheduling, monitoring, and auditing. Communicates with partner agencies involved in cancer screening compliance and improvement. Communicates clinical, staffing, and other pertinent information with the nursing personnel at all clinic sites. Assists providers with clinical patient care, counseling, and education based on age-appropriate growth and development principles. Plans and conducts in-service training for nursing personnel. Assists the FHC Chief Nursing Officer in mentoring and evaluating nursing students. Serves as a backup for the FHC Scheduling Clerk to develop and update daily and extended hours nursing schedules. Acts as a resource person for other departments, committees, and outside agencies, including the Louisville Metro Health Department. Acts as the FHC Ombudsman in his/her absence. Travels between clinics as necessary. Adheres to universal precautions. Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be a current, regular employee of Family Health Centers. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or another health-related field. Three years of experience as a registered nurse in a primary care setting, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Possession of a current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Kentucky. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted, as determined applicable by Civil Service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Moves and/or lifts more than 100 lbs. when moving supplies, positioning patients, or assisting patients on and off the examination table, with or without assistance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must obtain CPR certification within 60 days of hire and maintain certification throughout time of employment at FHC. Must provide own transportation to work at other FHC locations as needed. Must work a varied work schedule. Must wear personal protective equipment as mandated by OSHA. Must be vaccinated for Hepatitis B, have provided evidence of immunization, or have signed a declination form within 10 days of initial assignment. Must be on call for 7 days, 24 hours a day in the absence of the FHC Chief Nursing Officer. An equal opportunity employer
