The ADON provides leadership to nursing staff, assists with policy development and implementation, and promotes a culture of clinical excellence and resident safety. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations of the Nursing Department. Supervise nursing personnel, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to meet resident needs. Participate in recruitment, hiring, orientation, and ongoing performance evaluations of nursing staff. Provide mentorship and coaching to charge nurses and CNAs to support professional growth and retention. Clinical Oversight Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (CMS, Department of Public Health) and facility policies. Monitor resident care plans and clinical documentation for accuracy and timeliness. Oversee infection prevention and control programs; collaborate with the Infection Preventionist to implement interventions. Assist with quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives. Resident Care & Family Relations Serve as a clinical resource for complex resident care issues. Communicate effectively with residents and families to address concerns and ensure satisfaction. Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team discussions. Education & Training Develop and deliver staff education and in-service programs. Ensure that nursing staff maintain required competencies and certifications. Promote evidence-based practices and current standards of care. Administrative & Compliance Assist in preparing for state surveys and regulatory inspections. Maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and facility policy. Participate in budget planning and monitor nursing department expenses. Qualifications Current RN license in the state of [State Name] in good standing. Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in nursing (ADN) with relevant experience considered. Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in long-term care, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or management role. Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations (CMS, 105 CMR, etc.). Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in emergencies. Working Conditions Full-time, typically Monday-Friday with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and on-call coverage as needed. Work is primarily performed in a healthcare facility setting, requiring regular interaction with residents, families, and staff.
