Administrator Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing department of our Skilled Nursing Facility in Whitehall Michigan. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall administration, management, and supervision of nursing services to ensure the highest quality of resident care while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The DON serves as a key member of the facility leadership team and is responsible for fostering a culture of clinical excellence, resident-centered care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee nursing department operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Develop, implement, and update nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care. Ensure appropriate staffing and scheduling to meet resident needs and acuity levels. Provide leadership and guidance to, Nursing Managers, Charge Nurses, and CNAs. Participate in admission screenings, resident assessments, and care conferences. Lead infection control, quality assurance, and nursing education initiatives. Support survey readiness and corrective action planning. Monitor nursing documentation and clinical record accuracy. Regulatory Compliance Lead facility readiness efforts for state surveys and inspections. Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Investigate and address compliance concerns, incidents, and grievances. Ensure timely and accurate completion of required clinical documentation. Monitor quality measures and implement corrective action plans as needed. Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Risk Management Investigate resident incidents, accidents, infections, and adverse events. Implement preventive measures to reduce clinical risks. Ensure appropriate reporting of incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with facility leadership to mitigate operational and clinical risks. Skills & Competencies Comprehensive knowledge of geriatric nursing practices. Leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills. Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities. Effective organizational and communication skills. Ability to effectively lead interdisciplinary teams.
Required:
Graduate of accredited nursing school; current RN license in Michigan. Supervisory experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility.
Preferred:
Advanced training or certification in nursing leadership or management. Minimum of three (3) years of nursing management experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care facility, or comparable healthcare setting Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN). Physical & Work Requirements Frequent standing, walking, and responding to emergencies. Ability to lift 80 -300 lbs with assistance/equipment.
