REGISTERED NURSE DIRECTOR OF NURSING
(DON) Gregory Ridge Living Center Position Summary Gregory Ridge Living Center is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and compassionate Registered Nurse Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our clinical team and oversee all nursing operations within our skilled nursing facility. This leader will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional resident care, maintaining regulatory compliance, driving positive clinical outcomes, and fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience working with behavioral health, psychiatric, dementia, and medically complex populations. This individual must be a strong leader who can develop and mentor nursing teams while creating a resident-centered environment focused on quality outcomes and regulatory excellence. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Minimum of three (3) years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care setting, behavioral health facility, or psychiatric environment. Demonstrated experience managing residents with behavioral, psychiatric, dementia, and complex medical needs. Thorough knowledge of federal and state nursing home regulations, survey processes, and quality assurance programs. Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and team development skills. Ability to analyze clinical data and implement performance improvement initiatives. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high standard of resident care. Strong understanding of staffing, budgeting, labor management, and clinical operations. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Direct, supervise, and oversee all nursing services within the facility. Ensure delivery of high-quality resident-centered care that promotes safety, dignity, and quality of life. Monitor clinical outcomes and implement corrective actions to achieve organizational goals. Lead and support interdisciplinary teams in the management of resident care plans and clinical interventions. Ensure compliance with all nursing standards, policies, and procedures. Behavioral and Psychiatric Program Leadership Provide clinical oversight and support for residents with behavioral health and psychiatric diagnoses. Develop and implement programs that support positive behavioral outcomes and resident engagement. Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, psychiatric providers, social services, and therapy teams to ensure comprehensive treatment planning. Lead staff education and competency development related to behavioral health management, de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed care, and psychiatric interventions. Promote a culture focused on reducing avoidable hospitalizations and psychiatric admissions through proactive intervention and care management. Survey and Regulatory Management Lead facility readiness efforts for state, federal, and accreditation surveys. Maintain continuous survey preparedness through routine audits, observations, and quality monitoring. Identify areas of risk and implement corrective action plans to ensure regulatory compliance. Manage plans of correction and ongoing monitoring related to survey findings. Collaborate with facility leadership and corporate clinical teams to drive sustained compliance and quality outcomes. Team Development and Leadership Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop nursing leaders and frontline staff. Establish clear expectations, accountability measures, and performance standards. Foster a positive culture of teamwork, engagement, and professional growth. Conduct regular leadership rounding and staff development activities. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and competency standards are maintained. Quality Improvement and Outcomes Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. Monitor key performance indicators including hospitalizations, falls, infections, psychotropic medication utilization, survey outcomes, staffing metrics, and resident satisfaction. Develop action plans to improve quality measures and clinical performance. Partner with facility and corporate leadership to achieve operational and clinical excellence.
