POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is accountable and responsible, under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON), for managing and guiding all the activities of the facility including, but not limited to, the staff, environment and patients. The ADON demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation certificate from an accredited school of nursing (RN), required Current Mississippi RN license, required ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications and Moderate Sedation certifications, required Operating Room experience, preferred Management and/or leadership experience, preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong discretion and ability to handle confidential information Composure in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments Willingness and ability to learn new technologies Dependable, punctual, and highly detail‑oriented Strong multitasking and independent‑work capabilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Accurate documentation skills Ability to follow established workflows consistently Knowledge of surgery department procedures, infection control practices and emergency response protocols
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, typically 8 to12 hours per day Perform routine physical movements such as bending, reaching, lifting, and turning Lift, carry, push, or pull items 50 pounds or more using proper body mechanics Use of both hands and feet with reliable fine motor skills and finger dexterity Clear verbal communication, active listening, and sufficient visual acuity for safe patient care Frequent communication with patients, staff, and providers in person and by phone

Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 4:00PM ##
About LAW Outpatient Surgery Center:
Lowery A. Woodall (LAW) Outpatient Surgery Center has been providing outpatient services to South Mississippi residents since 1984. The care we provide to our patients is a top priority. All LAW registered nurse staff members are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), to perform life-saving actions if complications arise. All staff is Basic Life Support (BLS) certified. We proactively attempt to contact our patients by phone within 24 business hours post discharge to assist them in communicating any necessary needs to their physician. We implement best practices by following national guidelines for hand hygiene and infection prevention. LAW provides reports yearly to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention's National Healthcare Safety network to ensure we are maintaining quality standards of care.
