Competitive Compensation Package + Benefits A respected skilled nursing and rehabilitation organization is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations and oversee the delivery of exceptional resident care. The Director of Nursing will work closely with facility leadership to ensure the highest standards of clinical excellence while fostering a positive and supportive environment for residents, families, and staff. Position Summary The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall leadership and management of nursing services within the facility. This position oversees all clinical operations, staffing, quality assurance initiatives, regulatory compliance, infection prevention efforts, resident assessments, care planning, and staff development programs. The successful candidate will be a visible leader who can build strong teams, mentor nursing staff, and drive positive clinical outcomes while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. Key Responsibilities Direct and oversee all nursing services and clinical operations. Ensure quality resident care is delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Recruit, hire, develop, coach, and retain nursing staff. Manage staffing levels and scheduling to ensure resident needs are met. Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Oversee infection prevention and control programs. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Monitor clinical systems including skin management, falls prevention, weight management, psychotropic medication oversight, and risk management programs. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy providers, therapy providers, laboratories, hospice agencies, and other healthcare partners. Oversee resident assessments, care planning, and MDS processes. Support survey readiness and participate in regulatory surveys and inspections. Provide leadership, guidance, and education to nursing staff. Serve as a liaison between residents, families, physicians, and facility leadership. Participate in facility leadership initiatives and strategic planning. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Minimum of three years of nursing experience; long-term care experience strongly preferred. Previous nursing leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations, survey processes, and clinical operations. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lead teams, manage change, and build a positive workplace culture. Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare technology systems. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to clinical concerns as needed.
