We are in search of a Director of Med Surg/PCU for a 25 beds Critical Access hospital located in rural NM area.

Day Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Director of Medical/Surgical/ PCU has 24-hour responsibility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of Nursing Care to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric patients. Is qualified to perform the duties of this position by initial education, continuing education and experience. Is responsible for the fiscal & operational management of the Department. The Director of Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics is responsible for completing all duties assigned.
Job Requirements:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or actively progressing towards a BSN or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three (5) years' nursing experience required. Minimum of two (2) years' clinical and leadership experience preferred. Required Licensure/Certification(s): Current RN license to practice professional Nursing in the State of New Mexico or acceptable compact state RN licensure. Current verification in Basic Life Support. (If BLS verification is not current upon hire must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.) Must complete ACLS certification within three (3) months of hire. Must complete PALS within six (6) months of hire. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with extensive clinical expertise, particularly in acute care, surgical nursing, and complex patient management. The ideal candidate will possess strong management capabilities, comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. As a pivotal member of our healthcare team, you will ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality services aligned with regulatory standards and organizational goals. Responsibilities Provide visionary leadership and supervision for the Med/Surg PCU team, fostering a collaborative and patient-centered environment. Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans tailored to residents' needs, ensuring adherence to best practices in physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Oversee daily shift management to optimize staffing levels, resource allocation, and patient monitoring activities. Ensure compliance with all health regulation policies including HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, Medicare requirements, and other applicable standards. Supervise documentation review processes within electronic medical record (EMR) systems to maintain accuracy in medical records and medical records management. Lead case management efforts to coordinate care effectively across multidisciplinary teams while ensuring quality outcomes. Manage departmental budgeting, resource planning, and cost control initiatives to promote operational efficiency. Conduct regular staff supervision, performance evaluations, and professional development activities focused on nursing leadership and team management. Monitor clinical performance metrics related to acute care, surgical nursing expertise, home health services, hospice care, assisted living experience, and home health agency standards. Promote a culture of continuous improvement by analyzing patient outcomes and implementing evidence-based practices.
