Director of Nursing SETTING Skilled Nursing
- Long-Term Care The Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH) is looking for an experienced, mission-driven Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead clinical excellence for the men and women who served our country.
The HDG platform. Backed by a national leader in senior living and post-acute operations — clinical mentorship, operational resources, and a network of peers. Operated by Health Dimensions Group under contract with the Nevada Department of Veterans Services, NNSVH is a beautiful, modern community where high-quality nursing care meets a population that has earned it. As ADON, you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Director of Nursing to lead, coach, and develop a dedicated team of RNs, LPNs and CNAs — and you'll do it with the backing of a national operator with deep clinical and operational expertise. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the next chapter of nursing leadership at NNSVH, reporting to the Executive Director and building the culture and the team from the ground up. Why this opportunity
- Mission you can feel. Every shift, every decision is in service of veterans and their families.
- A facility to be proud of. NNSVH is a well-appointed, modern community designed for the care it delivers.
- Northern Nevada lifestyle. Lake Tahoe, the Sierra Nevada, year-round sunshine, and no state income tax. Reno-Sparks is one of the most livable markets in the West.
- Relocation support. Available for the right candidate. What you'll do Reporting to the Director of Nursing, you will:
- Provide professional and clinical leadership to RNs, LPNs and CNAs, including coaching, mentorship, and direct feedback.
- Support the facility's training program — annual in-services, new hire orientation, and ongoing education calendars.
- Coordinate the Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance process, including QAPI meetings, root-cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
- Audit systems for compliance with federal and state long-term care regulations.
- Support and participate in survey readiness activities and assessments.
- Partner on incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and intervention.
- Review staffing patterns to maintain adequate, budget-aligned coverage.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new nursing staff. Requirements we're looking for
- Active RN license in good standing — Nevada licensure required (or eligible to obtain).
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings, essential.
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in Nursing.
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local long-term care regulations.
- Ability to present and communicate confidently with managers, residents, families, and state surveyors.
- Participation in leadership on-call rotation required, which may include evenings and weekends.
