Nursing Program Director Description The Program Director of Nursing will supervise the daily operations of the BSN program at the Albany Market. The focus of this position will be on meeting New York Office of Professions standards, CCNE standards, and achieving acceptable NCLEX pass rates and graduation rates along with meeting campus retention and graduation goals. The Program Director of Nursing is responsible for managing the resources for the nursing program under guidance of the Campus Director. The primary student focus is ensuring a supportive environment to provide quality instruction. The administration of the nursing program at the campus includes monitoring academic records and ensuring adherence to college policies and procedures. The Program Director of Nursing will ensure adequate support for capable students to succeed in the nursing program. The primary faculty focus is to develop, implement, and coordinate programs and services in conjunction with the dean of each campus, to support instructors in their teaching efforts and manage the nursing faculty. The Program Director of Nursing will actively participate as a team member in the facilitation of interdepartmental relations, oversight of clinical site agreements, and support the dean, and campus director in the operation, development, and profitability of the campus. Job Knowledge/Systems Assist with the development/management of the nursing program to achieve desired results, and implement approved corrective action as needed. Oversee interviewing, hiring, and supervision of the nursing instructional, clinical, and support staff. Develop, implement, and coordinate programs and services to support nursing instructors in their teaching careers Actively mentor faculty members to enhance their teaching styles and support professional growth. Actively participate as a team member to coach and guide associates in carrying out their responsibilities and to enhance inter-departmental relations. Initiate and/or assist with policy/procedure development related to the nursing program with the support of the system's office process. Represent the nursing program of the College as an official spokesperson within the community, and promote the professional image of the nursing program, its services, its associates, and its students. Collect and analyze classroom material with the purpose of making recommendations for course consistency and effectiveness. Assist the dean and campus director to identify new curricula, review/revise current curricula, catalogs, and nursing student handbook. Ensure conformance with all system, state, and federal guidelines including but not limited to the New York Office of Professions, the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, CCNE and Bryant & Stratton College. Support the effort of the college's transfer of credits as well as articulation agreements. Attend meetings systems sponsored as well as campus and market sponsored as scheduled. Other functions and responsibilities as may be assigned. Resource Management Research new opportunities for instructor development through internal and external means. Work with the academic team to achieve the division goals for continuing students. Work with the deans and registrars to prepare the master schedule to maximize efficiency while maintaining the highest quality of instruction. Meet all established deadlines. Provide timely updates and feedback. Supervise registration of continuing nursing students Participate as a member of the Academic Management team including attending Department and Program Director meetings and server on committees as assigned. Participate as an active member of the campus retention team and the transition team. Information/Technology Manage academic reporting requirements for federal, state, accrediting commission and other interested parties. Support the dean and registrar in evaluating transcripts to determine appropriate transferability of credit for new nursing students. Utilize the Banner Registration and SRS systems. Facilitate the use of ATI as a means and mechanism of student success in the NCLEX process. Interpersonal Communication Conduct regular classroom observations and communicate action plans for teaching opportunities to nursing instructors. Interact with nursing faculty on a regular basis to identify opportunities for individual and/or group training and development. Develop and conduct in-service training. Confer with nursing students concerning individual problems of course work, scheduling, attendance, homework, grievances, individual progress, graduation, academic records, academic standing and disciplinary concerns related to student behavior to enhance professional and educational performance outcomes. Handle inquiries and problematic situations. Serve as a professional example to staff, students, and faculty. Supervise advisement of students academically at risk due to attendance, performance, personal barriers, or "program jeopardy" status. Support college and student activities Encourage and motivate students to help them clarify personal and career goals. Actively participate in and implement campus retention efforts. Participate in all academic community opportunities. Knowledge, Skills, & Experience Qualified candidate will possess a Doctorate degree from an accredited institution with a Master's Degree in Nursing. Two years' experience in supervisor capacity in the academic arena, preferably as an educational nursing director. Leadership and management skills necessary for success include administration, advising, teaching, planning, prioritizing, problem-solving, scheduling, evaluating, delegating, and budgeting. Candidate will possess excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and work with others in a fast paced, team oriented environment. Nursing faculty teaching hold a valid and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. Please note that the compensation information is a good faith estimate of the base pay for this position. The selected candidate's actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At Bryant & Stratton College, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Information about the total compensation package for this position will be provided during the interview process.
SALARY:
