Job Description
Position Summary The principal role of the academic Program Director is to serve as a liaison among faculty and students in the program and to work collaboratively with the Department Chair and other Program Directors in support of the department mission and operational objectives. Program Directors are appointed to one-year renewable terms by the President in consultation with the Provost and Dean of the College. Program Directors report directly to the Department Chair. Program Directors are evaluated on performance of duties specified below on an annual basis, and this process includes self-evaluation, program faculty evaluation, and immediate supervisor evaluation. Evaluation by program faculty will only be done in programs having three or more faculty. The Program Director shall be responsible for the following duties as they relate to the categories below.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
FACULTY Assist the Department Chair in the search and recruitment of prospective faculty and staff. Work with the Department Chair in developing teaching schedules. Encourage professional development activities of program faculty. Conduct regular program meetings managed through program agendas and minutes.STUDENTS
Coordinate with program faculty to advise students on academic matters and inform students of program requirements. Work with the Department Chair in addressing student concerns and conflicts.PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
Assist Department Chair in coordinating department tours for prospective students. Assist Department Chair in coordinating department participation in student orientation programs, open house, and registration days. Participate in communication with accepted students. Assist in the recruitment of students for the department's programs and course offerings.DEPARTMENT
Keep Department Chair informed of all relevant program matters and events. Attend all department meetings and faculty of the whole meetings. Help lead in the systematic review and revision of the academic program Including curriculum and assessment and courses under the leadership of the Department Chair. Assist the Department Chair in the development and discontinuation of programs and courses. Provide Department Chair with program information for accreditation procedures. Assist department chair with compilation and submission of documents required for program accreditation (professional programs). Produce a Program Review report using a three-to-five-year cycle for the final program review. BUDGET Work with chair in formulating program-specific budget requests. Experience with Brightspace LMS and Student Information Systems. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as software applications relevant to area of responsibility.Education and Experience:
Master's degree in nursing. DNS, DNP, EdD., PhD. preferred. Experience as a nursing faculty member in pre-licensure programs. Current unencumbered NYS RN license.Salary range:
