Nursing Full Job Description Description:
The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a crucial role in supporting the Director of Nursing in leading our nursing team. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the nursing department, promoting clinical excellence, and fostering a culture of compassion, professionalism, and continuous improvement. We are looking for someone with strong clinical and leadership skills, as well as LEAN and technology skills.
Schedule:
Full-Time, Weekdays, Weekends, On-Call, 8
Hour Shifts Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Support the Director of Nursing in leading the nursing team, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs. Help develop and enforce nursing policies, ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate resident care and improve outcomes. Monitor clinical practices, care plans, and infection control to ensure quality and compliance. Provide supervision, training, and performance feedback to promote staff growth and accountability. Assist with hiring, scheduling, and onboarding to maintain adequate, skilled staffing levels. Address resident and family concerns, fostering clear communication and trust. Participate in quality improvement, incident reviews, and survey readiness efforts. Model professionalism and uphold a positive, respectful work environment. Stay current with nursing trends and contribute to efficient, cost-effective operations.
Requirements:
Job Qualifications:
Valid Registered Nurse License (RN) in the state where work is performed is required . Infections Preventionist r equired. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or relevant field. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with progressive managerial experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting. Experience in nursing leadership or management roles, preferably within a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting. Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements governing nursing practice. Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to the highest standards of nursing practice. Prior experience in staff supervision, performance evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Work performed in a medical setting due to the need to work directly with residents and staff. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, stretch, and twist. Required vision includes close, vision, distance, peripheral, and the ability to adjust focus. Capability to lift and transfer residents safely, with proper body mechanics and assistance as needed. Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager. This job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations. The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing. The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. Proficiency in performing tasks that require manual dexterity, such as using medical equipment, writing reports, and typing on a computer keyboard. The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
