OUR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING
(ADON)
POSITION
The primary function of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is to assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing and coordinating the delivery of nursing care and related services for all residents. The ADON ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, facility policies, and standards of nursing practice while supporting staff development, quality improvement, and day-to-day nursing operations. Job Duties of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON): Assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services. Oversees resident care and services in accordance with physician orders and interdisciplinary plans of care. Ensures medications and treatments are administered in compliance with facility policies and procedures. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of resident assessments and care plans. Conducts daily resident rounds, identifying and addressing clinical or operational concerns and reporting findings to the Director of Nursing. Monitors and supervises the work of LPNs and Nursing Assistants to ensure quality care is delivered consistently. Assists with interviewing, hiring, scheduling, training, orientation, and disciplinary actions as needed. Supports staff education, competency validation, and performance improvement initiatives. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities and makes recommendations to enhance resident care and operational efficiency. Assists with employee health and work-related injury processes. Maintains confidentiality of resident, employee, and facility information. Demonstrates professionalism, leadership, and teamwork at all times. Acts as Director of Nursing designee when assigned or in their absence.

Qualifications - Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON): Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a long-term care setting preferred. Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred. Current CPR certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Physical demands include the ability to walk extensively, sit for extended periods, and bend, lift, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds frequently. Must be able to operate lifting equipment regularly and push and pull carts and/or resident transportation devices. A full list of physical requirements is available upon request.
