Job Description

Title:
Assistant Director of Nursing Direct Report:

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for overseeing a 117-bed facility and ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is being delivered at all times to meet the total needs of the residents within the facility.
Qualifications:
Currently licensed as an RN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Previous experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long term care facility or other related health care facility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in helping to train, teach, and monitor nurses. Assist in managing clinical operations and developing care plans. Assist Director of Nursing in staffing requirements, call offs and adjust staffing as needed. May function as licensed staff employee to fill vacancies as needed. Assist in ensuring nursing staff follows departmental procedures and policies. Assist in conducting patient rounds and addressing resident complaints. Assist in evaluating the performance of the department and recommending improvements. Assist with employee performance evaluations and making recommendations concerning employee discipline up to and including dismissal. Assist in assuring the Supervisor is assessing/evaluating residents with any significant change in condition, making attending physician and family aware. Assist in making assure that all license staff are making rounds and assessing/evaluating their residents. Assure that resident's privacy and dignity is always maintained. On-call rotation.
Specific Requirements:
Knowledge of nursing best practices in compliance with state, federal, and local standards. Must possess positive leadership skills and can work as a team. Must be able to read and write the English language. Must possess excellent oral and strong written communication skills. Must possess excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills to complete daily tasks. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work in a high-pressure/fast paced work environment.
