Job Description
Chief Nursing Officer 1241 East 33rd Street, Edmond, OK 73013 Hybrid work Full-time Full-time Job Summary We are hiring aChief Nursing Officer (CNO) to lead nursing operations in a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) setting. This executive role is responsible for regulatory compliance, clinical quality, and operational performance across rural healthcare facilities. The CNO reports to the CEO and President and plays a key role in ensuring alignment between nursing services and organizational strategy. This position requires strong experience with CMS regulations, accreditation readiness, and rural healthcare delivery. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation Ensure compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs) for CAHs Lead Joint Commission/DNV survey readiness and audits Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all federal/state regulations Develop and enforce nursing policies and procedures Leadership & Staffing Hire, train, and manage nursing staff and leadership teams Conduct performance evaluations and oversee disciplinary actions Manage staffing schedules and workforce planning Promote a culture of accountability and collaboration Quality & Patient Safety Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Oversee infection prevention and control programs Monitor KPIs (patient outcomes, safety events, transfers) Direct incident reporting and root cause analysis Operations & Financial Oversight Assist with budgeting, staffing models, and resource allocation Support reimbursement processes and regulatory billing compliance Provide operational and regulatory reports to executive leadership Education & Training Ensure staff education on regulatory updates and clinical best practices Lead in-service training and competency programs Emergency Preparedness Oversee CMS-compliant emergency preparedness planning Coordinate with local and regional partners for disaster readiness Qualifications Education BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
- Required MSN, MHA, or related degree
- Preferred Licensure Active Oklahoma RN license
- Required Eligible for Kansas RN licensure Experience 5+ years of nursing leadership experience Experience with: CMS regulations and accreditation Quality improvement and patient safety Budgeting and financial management Healthcare reimbursement processes Critical Access Hospital (CAH) or rural healthcare experience preferred Skills & Competencies Regulatory compliance and survey readiness Leadership and team development Strong communication and decision-making skills Financial and operational management Risk management and patient safety Benefits (Customize as Needed) Competitive salary Health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plan (401k or equivalent) Paid time off (PTO) Relocation assistance (if applicable) Work Location & Travel Based in Oklahoma with regional Midwest responsibilities
