We are proudly accredited by The Joint Commission , and we are seeking a compassionate, autonomous, and clinically excellent Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our clinical operations, advocate for our clients, and mentor our growing field team. Job Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) is a Registered Nurse who assumes overall responsibility for the clinical direction, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance of all home health services and staffing operations. This is a dynamic, hybrid role combining in-office administrative leadership with hands-on field oversight, including initial client assessments, care planning, and clinical staff competency check-offs. As the Director of Nursing, you will play a critical role in shaping our clinical services and enhancing patient outcomes. Your leadership will ensure that our care delivery continues to meet the high standards our clients expect and deserve.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Care Coordination:
Oversee the intake, assessment, and implementation of highly personalized plans of care for a diverse client base (including wound care, IV infusions, and specialized cases).
Staff Supervision & Mentorship:
Recruit, orient, coach, and conduct ongoing competency assessments for RNs, LPNs, CHHAs, and caregivers.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Ensure all clinical operations strictly adhere to NJ state licensing regulations, the Nurse Practice Act, and The Joint Commission standards. Lead regular chart audits and maintain meticulous clinical records.
Field Oversight:
Actively conduct initial client assessments, reassessments, and supervisory visits in the field to guarantee premium care delivery.
Community Liaison:
Act as the primary clinical point of contact for families, physicians, and community healthcare partners to ensure seamless coordination of care.
Qualifications & Requirements License:
Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New Jersey (Required).
Education:
BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) is highly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical nursing experience (Required). Minimum of 2 years of leadership/supervisory experience managing a team of clinicians (e.g., DON, Clinical Manager, Unit Supervisor) (Required). Experience in Home Health Care or Private Duty Nursing (Highly Preferred).
Compliance Knowledge:
Strong working knowledge of NJ state home health regulations and Joint Commission accreditation standards.
Technical Skills:
Proficient with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional:
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and active auto insurance for local travel to client homes. Current CPR certification.
