Job Description
Join Our Founding Leadership Team We are preparing to launch a new home nursing care agency and are looking for an experienced and compassionate nursing professional to serve as our Director of Nursing. This leadership opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys building programs from the ground up, creating strong clinical systems, and shaping a culture focused on dignity, compassion, and exceptional patient care. As a key member of the leadership team, you will play an essential role in developing clinical operations, supporting licensing and compliance efforts, mentoring staff, and helping guide the overall growth of the agency. Position Overview The Director of Nursing will oversee all aspects of nursing services and clinical operations for the agency. This part-time leadership role requires a strong clinical background, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, startup environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and proactive leader who is passionate about delivering quality care and improving patient outcomes in the home care setting. Primary ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership Lead and manage the agency's nursing and clinical care services Perform patient evaluations and ongoing reassessments Develop individualized care plans tailored to patient needs Ensure high standards of safe, compassionate, and patient-focused care Oversee medication administration and clinical best practices Compliance & Agency Development Help establish clinical protocols, operational procedures, and workflow systems Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including Rhode Island Department of Health standards, HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid requirements Support licensing preparation, audits, inspections, and accreditation activities Implement infection control and patient safety initiatives Team Management & Support Hire, train, supervise, and mentor nursing staff and caregivers Coordinate staff onboarding, competency assessments, and ongoing education Manage scheduling and ensure proper staffing coverage Provide leadership, performance feedback, and coaching to team members Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities, including occasional weekends and holidays Promote a positive, team-oriented workplace culture Growth & Community Relations Build professional relationships with referral partners, including hospitals, physicians, rehabilitation centers, and case managers Assist with outreach efforts and community engagement Collaborate with ownership on operational growth and service development strategies Quality Assurance & Documentation Monitor clinical documentation and electronic medical record compliance Conduct quality assurance reviews and chart audits Track patient satisfaction and clinical performance outcomes Provide clinical support and guidance when needed Qualifications & Experience Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Rhode Island Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred At least 3-5 years of nursing leadership experience Background in home care, long-term care, geriatrics, or skilled nursing strongly preferred Familiarity with home healthcare regulations and compliance standards Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational abilities Comfortable working in a startup environment and helping build systems and processes from the beginning
