Director of Nursing (DON) NHC HealthCare Charleston | Charleston, SC Lead Clinical Excellence at One of Charleston's Premier Skilled Nursing Facilities NHC HealthCare Charleston is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our nursing team and continue our tradition of delivering exceptional patient-centered care. As Director of Nursing, you will play a vital leadership role in shaping clinical outcomes, developing nursing talent, and ensuring the highest standards of resident care. Position Summary The Director of Nursing provides overall leadership and management of the Nursing Department, overseeing all nursing services, clinical operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives. The DON works closely with the Administrator and interdisciplinary team to ensure outstanding resident outcomes and an exceptional patient experience. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all nursing services within the facility
  • Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and resident-centered care
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, and professional development of nursing staff
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and implement strategies for continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Promote a positive work environment that supports employee engagement and retention
  • Maintain high standards of patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care delivery Qualifications Required
  • Current South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of three years of nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and nursing standards
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Preferred
  • Previous Director of Nursing experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
  • Experience leading clinical quality improvement programs and survey preparedness initiatives What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is:
