$90,000•110,000 annually, based on experience About Houston Uptown Homecare Houston Uptown Homecare is a growing private duty home care agency dedicated to delivering exceptional, client-centered care throughout the Greater Houston area. We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our clinical operations, ensure regulatory compliance, support agency growth, and maintain the highest standards of patient care. Only candidates with private duty home care leadership experience will be considered. Position Summary The Director of Nursing is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations of the agency, ensuring compliance with Texas HCSSA regulations, supervising clinical staff, maintaining quality assurance programs, and supporting business growth initiatives. This role requires a hands-on clinical leader who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and providing support outside of traditional business hours when necessary. Required Qualifications Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred Minimum 2 years of private duty home care experience required Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience required Minimum 3 years of experience as a Clinical Supervisor, Director of Nursing, Clinical Manager, or equivalent nursing leadership role Strong knowledge of Texas HCSSA regulations and home care compliance requirements Experience supervising RNs, LVNs, caregivers, and home care staff Excellent clinical assessment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Greater Houston area Schedule Expectations This is not a traditional 8:00 AM-5:00 PM position. The Director of Nursing must be willing and able to: Work flexible and unconventional hours as needed Participate in on-call responsibilities Respond to urgent clinical and staffing situations Occasionally work evenings, weekends, and holidays Support agency operations during periods of growth and high census Essential Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Direct and oversee all clinical operations of the agency Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and agency regulations Review, approve, and oversee patient care plans Monitor quality outcomes and implement performance improvement initiatives Conduct clinical audits and chart reviews Staff Management Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, and supervise nursing personnel Conduct staff training, competency evaluations, and performance reviews Provide coaching, mentorship, and clinical guidance to team members Ensure adequate clinical staffing and coverage Patient Care Oversight Oversee admissions, assessments, reassessments, and care coordination Collaborate with physicians, hospitals, case managers, families, and referral sources Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care Address patient and family concerns promptly and professionally Compliance & Quality Assurance Maintain readiness for state surveys and audits Lead infection control, incident management, and risk reduction efforts Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation Monitor and enforce agency policies and procedures Business Growth Support Partner with leadership to support agency growth initiatives Assist in developing relationships with referral partners and healthcare providers Support census growth through exceptional clinical service and operational excellence Compensation & Benefits Base Salary $90,000•110,000 annually, based on experience Bonus Opportunities Quarterly performance-based bonuses Annual year-end bonus Additional Benefits Paid time off Paid holidays Continuing education opportunities Professional development support Leadership role within a growing organization Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients, families, and staff
