Executive Director Job Summary:
Manages the day-to-day nursing operations of the community to ensure resident's health related needs are met. Ensures the highest quality of care. Supervises nurses and other direct care staff working within the community.
Preferred Education and experience:
Possess and unencumbered nursing license (LPN or RN) within the state he/she is working. Minimum of 3 years management experience working in a related capacity.
Job Description Role and Responsibilities:
Directly supervises licensed nursing staff, Registered Medication Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants and other direct care staff Assigns, schedules and directs work of all nursing department staff, including evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining department staff, addressing complaints and resolving issues Ensures appropriate training and education is provided to department staff on an ongoing basis as required for regulatory & licensure purposes Maintains resident healthcare charts and reviews documentation provided by other nursing department staff Continuously assess resident's health, functional and psycho-social status, and communicates any changes to the resident's physician and responsible party. Ensures physician orders are properly followed as prescribed Completes and maintains each residents' individualized service plan ongoing according to state regulation Is actively involved in the pre-admission assessment of any new prospective resident. Assures that required health related documentation is completed prior to resident admission. Performs onsite evaluations of residents incurring changes in their health condition or evaluates residents, documents changes in condition, and notifies all necessary parties (Executive Director, physician, legal responsible party, etc…) Works with resident's physician to communicate resident's status and changes in condition. Coordinates with third party health care providers to ensure continuity of care for the residents Participates in review of resident individual service plan meetings Ensures in house medical services such as physician, podiatrist, dental, psych visits, labs, x-rays, ambulance, etc. are scheduled and followed through accordingly Responsible for participating and managing quarterly resident council meetings On call and available 24 hours/7 days per week, except when prior approval has been granted, to assist onsite staff with all nursing related requests Physical Demands include: May require Standing, Walking, Sitting, use of hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaching with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, see, lift up to 50 lbs.
Working conditions:
Requires interaction with co-workers, residents, and vendors. Occasional weekend, evening or night work if needed to ensure coverage and oversight of all shifts. Possible exposure to communicable diseases and infections. Potential injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting residents. Exposure to latex. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens, various drugs, chemicals, or biological hazards. Subject to injury from falls, burns, odors, or cuts from equipment. Requires occasional travel. Management/decision making Uses company policies & procedures to make varied decision within the department. Uses sound judgement and experience to solve moderately complex based on precedent, example, reasonableness or a combination of these. Preferred Skills Self-sufficient with developing and implementing schedules and department related procedures. Requires an understanding of practical nursing interventions and able to implement those interventions when necessary. Highly motivated to constantly improving and updating department operations.
