Job Description

University Description Founded in 1868, Hampton University is a leading historically black university (HBCU) located in the City of Hampton, a historic city in the Hampton Roads region, offering a peaceful yet intellectually stimulating environment for living and learning. The Hampton University main campus is centrally located between Virginia Beach and historic Williamsburg, along a beautiful waterfront. The University is a nationally renowned, privately endowed, co-educational, and nonsectarian institution. The University is "dedicated to the promotion of learning, building of character and preparation of promising students for positions of leadership and service." Minimum Qualifications Registered Nurse, Statistician, Licensed Pharmacist, or Health-Related Field Master's required. Doctorate preferred. Eligible to be a member of the Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing and Health Sciences Faculty. Registered Nurse must have an unencumbered RN license in Virginia or a compact state with at least five years of clinical nursing practice experience. Five years of educator experience required. Knowledge of and experience in state, regional, and national nursing accreditation and Health Sciences certification processes for AACN, AUPHA, CCNE, VBON, and other agencies. General knowledge of university evaluation and reporting processes Experience in managing aggregated data. Demonstrate significant prior experience in a nursing college. Able to lead academic programs' collection and evaluation of program outcomes. Able to construct and participate in the construction of accreditation and other agency reporting documents. Able to engage and educate faculty on the most recent accreditation/licensure/ educational standards. Meet the required standards defined by the University.
Job Specification Reports to:
Dean of the School of Nursing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and guidance to faculty and administration regarding the evaluation of formative and summative data to promote excellence in the delivery of nursing curricula and health sciences curricula. Actively engage with Undergraduate, Graduate Chairs/. Directors of Nursing to meet for program evaluation and data gathering. Maintain an undergraduate and/or graduate teaching load equivalent to other directors.
Research Design:
Determine how to collect data accurately, design surveys, polls, and controlled experiments to avoid bias
Data Analysis:
Apply statistical models and programming languages to organize and evaluate the collected information.
Interpretation:
Determine the validity of the data and figure out what the observed patterns actually mean for the organization
Communication:
Translate highly complex mathematical concepts into clear, actionable reports and presentations for non-technical leaders and executives.
Program Assessment & Evaluation :
Serve on the SON Administrative Council. Serve on university committees as appointed. Chair the School of Nursing Assessment and Evaluation Committee. Collect and manage data related to enrollment, graduations, and demographics of students in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences needed to complete required reports each semester. Work with Institutional Research to secure correct data. Complete/assist with preparation and submission of reports required by accrediting/approval agencies and other national nursing and Health Sciences organizations, including: AACN Annual Survey of Nursing Programs AACN Annual Faculty Survey & Faculty Vacancy Report AACN Brief Survey CCNE Annual Report LSBN Annual Reports (Undergraduate and Graduate) NLN Annual Survey of Schools of Nursing NCSBN Projected Graduates of Prelicensure nursing students Assist the School of Nursing Dean, Chairs, and Directors in responding to requests from the University Management Boards and legislatively established Task Forces and Commissions. Systematically develop and implement a plan for conducting evaluations of nursing programs, curricula, faculty, students, and outcomes related to each.
Administrative/Academic Responsibilities :
Represent the School of Nursing, at Dean's request, at statewide meetings as needed. Assist in the preparation of communications with external community agencies and alumni, as necessary. Conduct course instruction as assigned. Participating in official Hampton University functions as deemed necessary by the School of Nursing administration. Complete other activities as requested by the Dean of the School of Nursing and University administration.
Planning :
Develop Master Evaluation Plans for each school nursing program(S) that include a timeline of when each outcome measure is to be performed. Develop a Master Calendar for all accreditation visits, interim reports, etc. Work with School of Nursing Directors to ensure that collected data related to SON outcomes are analyzed and reported to appropriate committees for action. Give reports regarding outcomes of nursing programs to appropriate committees and suggest ways to improve evaluation of programs/students/curricula in future evaluation periods. Collaboratively assist School of Nursing directors and faculty in planning program/student/faculty/curricula improvements and needed changes.
University and Community Service:
Annually attend required University-sponsored functions each year. Participate in at least one professional organization within the State.
