  • Full-time Lead the future of nursing as the Chief Nursing Officer at a mission-driven hospital serving a rural region with an authentic community feel—a high-impact executive role where your voice shapes care, culture, and outcomes every day .
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will join a healthcare organization known for a patient-first mission, measurable quality outcomes, and a strong reputation for clinical excellence and safety, with consistent performance on core measures, low HAI rates, and standout patient experience scores that earn trust across the region. The CNO will influence high-acuity programs that accelerate professional growth—ICU, emergency and perioperative services, specialty lines, and centers of excellence—and enjoy award-winning workplace culture hallmarks such as leadership that listens, clinician wellbeing resources, and clear career pathways with tuition assistance, certification pay, and leadership development. This Chief Nursing Officer role is ideal for a visionary nurse executive seeking stability, strategic growth, and an elevated brand that strengthens a career portfolio. Within the Administration function, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will anchor the hospital's admin operations—partnering across the executive office, administrative services, and management teams—to streamline care delivery and elevate the patient journey in a setting prized for its rural access and genuine community feel. As the CNO, collaboration with finance, HR, compliance, and clinical operations will optimize staffing, throughput, documentation, and regulatory readiness while advancing clinical decision support, interdisciplinary rounding, and clinician-friendly tools that reduce clicks and restore time at the bedside. This Chief Nursing Officer position unites strategic leadership with hands-on visibility across units to drive reliability, resilience, and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) partners closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Quality Officer while leading a seasoned cadre of nursing directors, managers, educators, informatics specialists, and clinical practice leaders. The CNO will guide enterprise-wide initiatives in quality, safety, accreditation, staffing models, workforce planning, care variation reduction, and budget stewardship, supported by friendly nurses and a diverse healthcare professional team spanning pharmacy, PT/OT, case management, respiratory therapy, social work, and more. The Chief Nursing Officer will champion onboarding and residencies, simulation and lifelong learning, throughput and capacity management, infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship, patient advocacy, equity in care, and data-driven performance improvement that ties directly to outcomes and experience. Set in Southwest West Virginia, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) will enjoy life in the Appalachian highlands, where four-season beauty meets everyday convenience: world-class outdoor adventure at New River Gorge National Park, endless trails including the Hatfield-McCoy network, fishing and paddling on pristine rivers, and breathtaking overlooks just minutes from town. Regional attractions like Tamarack showcase vibrant arts and Appalachian cuisine, while family-friendly neighborhoods, and a low cost of living make homeownership accessible. Safety-minded communities, ample parks and green space, gyms and youth sports, senior services, and pet-friendly amenities create balance for every stage of life. Proximity to major roadways streamlines travel, with regional airports providing broader connectivity. The area's steady job market, entrepreneurship energy, favorable taxes, and ongoing development projects point to long-term stability, while the mountain backdrop, starry skies, and privacy-friendly density deliver the serenity many executives seek.
