About the
Role:
The Director of Rehab is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the rehabilitation services within a healthcare or social assistance setting. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation programs that promote recovery, independence, and improved quality of life for patients. The Director of Rehab leads a multidisciplinary team of therapists and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment that supports professional development and operational excellence. They are accountable for strategic planning, regulatory compliance, budget management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service effectiveness and patient outcomes. Ultimately, this position plays a critical role in aligning rehabilitation services with organizational goals and community needs across the United States.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related rehabilitation field. Current and valid professional licensure in the relevant therapy discipline(s) as required by the state of practice. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in rehabilitation services, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in rehabilitation. Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree (e.g., DPT, OTD, or PhD) in a rehabilitation-related field. Certification in healthcare management or administration (e.g., Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, Certified Healthcare Manager). Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and data analytics related to rehabilitation outcomes. Familiarity with grant writing and program development to support service expansion. Experience working in diverse healthcare settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and community-based rehabilitation.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor rehabilitation programs that meet clinical standards and patient needs. Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and support personnel. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards related to rehabilitation services. Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and operational workflows to optimize efficiency and quality of care. Collaborate with other healthcare leaders to integrate rehabilitation services within the broader continuum of care. Analyze performance metrics and patient outcomes to identify opportunities for program enhancement and staff training. Serve as a liaison with external agencies, insurance providers, and community organizations to support patient access and service expansion. Promote a culture of safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional development within the rehabilitation department.
