The DOR ensures the delivery of high-quality physical, occupational, and speech therapy services while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations. The DOR oversees clinical operations, staffing, budgeting, program development, and interdisciplinary collaboration to maximize patient outcomes and facility performance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Direct and supervise rehabilitation services including Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based therapy services. Monitor patient progress and outcomes through regular chart reviews and quality assurance activities. Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team conferences. Promote restorative nursing and rehabilitation programs that support residents' functional independence. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, Florida state regulations, Medicare guidelines, PDPM requirements, and facility policies. Maintain documentation standards and oversee completion of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, recertifications, and discharge summaries. Prepare for and participate in state surveys, audits, and compliance reviews. Implement corrective action plans when deficiencies are identified. Operational Management Manage rehabilitation department staffing, scheduling, productivity, and workflow. Monitor departmental key performance indicators (KPIs), including: Therapy utilization Clinical outcomes Length of stay Readmission rates Productivity standards Medicare and managed care performance Develop and maintain departmental budgets and monitor expenses. Coordinate equipment procurement, maintenance, and inventory. Team Leadership Recruit, hire, train, mentor, and evaluate rehabilitation staff. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching. Foster a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and resident-centered care. Lead departmental meetings and continuing education initiatives. Financial Management Monitor therapy billing practices to ensure compliance and reimbursement accuracy. Collaborate with MDS, nursing, and administration teams regarding PDPM optimization. Analyze departmental financial performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency and outcomes. Communication and Collaboration Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, social services, case management, and families. Serve as a rehabilitation resource for residents, families, and staff. Support facility admissions by evaluating rehabilitation potential and service needs. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology program. Licensure Current Florida license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology. License must be in good standing with the applicable Florida licensing board. Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of rehabilitation experience in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, inpatient rehabilitation, or related setting. Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
