A Brief Overview Under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor and the Department Manager, The Cardiology Technician I conducts and records electrocardiograms (ECG) according to established procedures and is responsible for attaching and explaining the ambulatory cardiac monitors, and their use to patients. This includes instructing the patients on the proper activity and record-keeping during the monitored period. Maintains patient data files and assists the Supervisor in training of staff and implementing Department policies and procedures. Locations Stanford Health Care What you will do Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s). Applies theoretical knowledge to identify and quantify recorded arrhythmias. Checks accuracy of analysis. Copies and faxes results to referring physician groups upon request. Hooks up Holter monitors, and cardiac event monitors, instructing patient on the proper activity and record keeping. Is responsible for each ECG taken on nursing units (e.g. poor tracings, improper patient information). Maintains data files on monitored patients and inputs reports into a computer as needed. Maintains electrocardiogram machines, event monitors and necessary supplies. Occasionally interprets clinical results. Provides training for other employees. Records cardiograms from hospital in-patients and out-patients. Records interpretations of Holters in Electronic Medical Record system. Responds to emergency calls. Responsible for editing EKGs in the Tracemaster ECG system. Works with other departments to ensure quality ECG service is maintained. Education Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience Qualifications One (1) year of directly related work experience. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to demonstrate customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volume and stressful situations Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information Ability to problem-solve effectively using appropriate resources. Generally starting at $37.73 - $42.19 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
