Job Description
Experteer Overview In this role you will oversee the technical operation of the laboratory for clinical or research EEG work, following established guidelines. You will perform complex EEG and evoked potential studies with minimal supervision and contribute to data preparation for physician interpretation. You will work in a neuro-science setting, supporting transitions between monitoring, mapping, and advanced imaging procedures. Your impact includes maintaining safety, optimizing data quality, and participating in process improvement initiatives within the Brain Institute.
Compensation / Benefits
Perform EEG and evoked potential testing and update results in Cerner
Adapt methods and instruments to obtain optimal EEG results based on history and findings
Review current EEG activity on Cerner video database
Print and edit EEG data from digital sources for neurologist review
Assist with electrode placement, hyperventilation, and cortical stimulation as directed
Maintain and report on equipment condition and patient safety; request repairs within 24 hours
Retrieve, reduce, and prepare video EEG data and behavioral data for physician interpretation
Analyze ictal/interictal features and artifacts to define segments for later analysis
Perform EEGs and long-term video-EEG monitoring using the International 10-20 system and supplementary positions; perform ECOG and subdural EEG as applicable
Conduct specialized studies such as functional brain mapping, ECS recordings, SPECT and PET studies
Provide patient care and monitor clinical manifestations during seizures and emergencies
Prepare montage, filter settings, and dips to assess seizure activity
Coordinate handoff with technicians to ensure critical patient data is available
Document EMR meaningful-use fields to optimize utilization
Participate in Lean initiatives to improve care quality, cost-effectiveness, and patient experience
Apply Lean methods to enhance experiences in the Brain Institute and contribute to service recovery
Engage in continuous improvement of patient experience and in service recovery processes Tasks
Electroneurodiagnostic Technology program (accredited) or equivalent on-the-job training
ABRET certification in good standing
American Heart Association BLS in good standing
4-7 years of experience as Electroencephalographic Technologist II, with emphasis on pediatrics, neonates, and ICU
LTM and Evoked Potentials experience in OR monitoring preferred
Experience in electronics and/or computer science advantageous
English communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality; work cooperatively with patients, families, and staff
Ability to stay calm under stress and adapt procedures as needed
Willingness to learn new procedures and collaborate with cross-functional teams Key requirements
