Job Description

St. Francis Way Medical Building Lafayette 3900 St Francis Way Lafayette, Indiana 47905 The Electrophysiology (EP) Device Tech is a crucial role within Franciscan, dedicated to EP-related technological devices (i.e. pacemakers, ICDs, BiV). This position develops a broad knowledge of EP devices, their manufacturers and functions, as well as new technologies as they emerge. The Electrophysiology Device Tech serves as a liaison between the physician and the patients, collects and evaluates device data, and prepares reports to determine follow up requirements.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Conduct EEG, and other neurodiagnostic testing, appropriate to the patient's age and according to departmental policies and procedures. Customize the recording procedure appropriately, as per referral evaluation, patient history or observed EEG waveforms. Determine any contraindications to testing or monitoring protocols based on patient history or physician orders. Provide a safe procedural environment by recognizing and responding to life-threatening situations. Recognize, document, and report critical tests results to the designated interpreting physician. Differentiate artifacts from cerebral or peripheral nerve responses, and troubleshoot possible causes, documenting steps taken to alleviate such artifacts. Disinfect testing room, equipment, and supplies in accordance with departmental/facility infection control policies. Ensure procedures are appropriately logged, charged and distributed to the interpreting physician. Participants in on-call rotation to provide off shift coverage, including weekends and holidays, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required High School Diploma/GED Required 1 year Successful completion of ECG Course within 12 months or 1 year Successful completion of an Industry online training academy within 12 months of employment which includes: cardiac physiology, disease and rhythms; pacing therapy; ICD therapy; cardiac resynchronization therapy, syncope and cardiac monitors and temporary pacemakers or 1 year Certified Device Clinic Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technologist (CRAT) from a recognized device training school or industry Required Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association Preferred Associate's Degree
