Hour Shifts Shift:
Days, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM Position Summary The Neurodiagnostic/EEG Technician is responsible for performing high-quality neurodiagnostic studies in accordance with departmental protocols and ASET standards. This role requires advanced knowledge of EEG technology, neurophysiology, patient monitoring, and safety practices to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders. The technician will perform routine and advanced EEG procedures while ensuring patient safety, maintaining equipment integrity, and delivering exceptional patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Core EEG Responsibilities Perform routine outpatient and inpatient electroencephalography (EEG) studies. Conduct prolonged routine EEGs, including studies to assist in evaluation of electrocerebral silence (brain death). Perform long-term continuous EEG monitoring. Conduct outpatient event monitoring studies. Perform private video EEG (VEEG) studies. Apply electrodes utilizing the International 10-20 System and adapt placement as clinically indicated. Ensure accurate acquisition and documentation of EEG data. Advanced Neurodiagnostic Responsibilities Perform inpatient Video EEG (VEEG) monitoring and event recording. Monitor multiple patients simultaneously within the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). Document patient events and EEG findings accurately within the medical record. Assess and evaluate patients during clinical events and seizure activity. Communicate significant findings promptly to physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers. Monitor patients undergoing ictal SPECT procedures and assist with seizure detection and radiotracer timing. Perform EEG monitoring during WADA procedures in the Interventional Radiology setting. Conduct intracarotid EEG recordings. Assist with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative EEG brain mapping procedures. Quality and Patient Safety Maintain patient safety throughout all neurodiagnostic testing. Monitor patients to prevent injury related to seizures, falls, or other clinical events. Understand and utilize appropriate escalation procedures, including notification of nursing staff, physicians, and rapid response teams. Ensure electrical safety and proper equipment functionality during all testing procedures. Adhere to ASET standards, departmental policies, and infection prevention guidelines. Recognize and address factors that may compromise study quality, including poor electrode connections, electrical interference, and patient-related limitations. Patient Education and Training Educate patients and families regarding neurodiagnostic procedures and expectations. Provide guidance and support throughout testing processes. Participate in ongoing professional development and continuing education activities. Assist in training and mentoring staff members as appropriate. Additional Neurodiagnostic Functions Perform Evoked Potential studies. Conduct Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP) testing. Support additional neurodiagnostic procedures as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum one (1) year of Neurodiagnostic or EEG experience in an acute care hospital setting. Demonstrated experience performing EEG procedures and neurodiagnostic testing. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Strong critical thinking, communication, and patient care skills. Preferred Qualifications Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T.) credential. Experience with long-term EEG monitoring, EMU monitoring, VEEG studies, and advanced neurodiagnostic procedures. Previous experience supporting WADA procedures, ictal SPECT monitoring, and intraoperative brain mapping. Pay:
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour Application Question(s): Minimum one (1) year of Neurodiagnostic or EEG experience in an acute care hospital setting. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA. Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T.) credential preferred. Experience with long-term EEG monitoring, EMU monitoring, VEEG studies, and advanced neurodiagnostic procedures.
