Job Summary and Qualifications The EEG Technician is ultimately responsible and accountable to the patient for the specific task of assisting the physician in assessment through various methods of neurological exams . Must demonstrate the knowledge, skill and ability to perform electroencephalographic exams to all age groups to include infant/neonate, toddler, preschooler , school age/adolescent, adult and geriatric. Tasks and skills to include but not limited to: Electroencephalographs (EEGs), Brain Auditory Evoked Response (BAER), Visual Evoked Response (VER), Electrocerebral Silence Studies (ECS), Topographic Brain Mapping and Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SSEP). What you will do in this role: Performs neurological tests as well as related work as required or assigned. Assesses patient and evaluates responses. Modifies testing technique when appropriate and based on sound clinical judgment. Participates in patient education. Provides instruction to patient and family related to neurological tests provided. Accurate and complete in documentation to facilitate care along the continuum of care. Participates as a member of the total team in providing services to our customers. Sets priorities in providing patient care. Functions in an organized and time conscious manner. Demonstrates flexibility in work and on call schedules. Maintains an organized filing system for reports and storage of hard tracings. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: adolescent, adult and geriatric.
What qualifications you will need:
High School Graduate / GED Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Rapides Regional Medical Center is a 350+ bed hospital and ER in Alexandria, Louisiana.
