Full Job Description Overview:
The Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist II (High Density EEG) will perform routine, extended and high-density EEG studies to support neurological diagnosis and research within the inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and in the outpatient Sleep Electroencephalographic (EEG) Clinic. This role is responsible for electrode placement, patient monitoring, and data acquisition to ensure high‑quality recordings while maintaining patient comfort and safety, in collaboration with neurologists, neuroscientists, and research teams.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform routine, extended, and high‑density EEG recordings (64-128 channel systems), including application of high‑density electrode caps, electrode digitization, and verification of appropriate impedance levels. 2. Monitor recordings in real time to ensure data quality and artifact reduction. 3. Complete activating procedures (i.e., hyperventilation and photic stimulation) including eliminating and/or properly monitoring physiological and non-physiological artifacts; reviewing, evaluating, mapping, and classifying impressions of Ictal, Interictal, and Paroxysmal events from EEG/video data; annotating event(s) occurring during daily scanning; and editing and archiving EEG/video data, documentation, and mapping. 4. Provide real‑time technical support to physicians during EEG acquisition and interpretation, including preparation of preliminary technical reports and detailed documentation of EEG patterns, seizure semiology, mapping of abnormalities, and representative EEG samples. 5. Support EEG data collection for clinical trials and neuroscience research involving patients and clinical staff, following IRB‑approved protocols and maintaining required study documentation and data transfers. 6. Collaborate with investigators and research teams on study setup, protocol adherence, and preparation of EEG data for analysis. 7. Maintain clinical databases and archives ensuring appropriate records and file locations are saved. 8. Adhere to Functional Mapping protocols while maintaining quality control standards across all EEG studies. 9. Troubleshoot EEG equipment, amplifiers, software, and acquisition systems. 10. Conduct video-EEG monitoring as required. 11. Serve as the point of contact for the lab's Emergency Medicine Physician (EMP) regarding technical aspects. 12. Educate patients and families on EMU monitoring procedures and generate patient‑specific technical reports to support care and understanding. 13. Appropriately maintain, clean, and store all equipment and laboratory inventory.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification is required. Registered Electroencephalograph Technologists (R.EEG.T) certification based on the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) credentialing standards is preferred Certification for Long Term Monitoring (CLTM) based on the ABRET credentialing standards is preferred.
EDUCATION
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Neuroscience, or related field or graduation from Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic Technologist (NDT) program is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience performing EEG technologist duties is required. A minimum of one year of hands-on experience with standard and high-density EEG systems (ex. Magstim EG) and analysis software and (ex. Curry Analyzer) are preferred. Experience in clinical research or academic research environment is preferred. Experience with ERP paradigms and cognitive neuroscience research is preferred. Experience working with pediatric patient populations with disabilities is preferred.
Minimum pay range:
USD $57,140.30/Yr.
Maximum pay range:
USD $99,305.86/Yr.
