Job Alerts Position Summary:
Uses specialized equipment that monitors brain activity to perform electroencephalographic procedures on patients. Ensures accurate diag no stic results for patients by performing EEG (electr o encephalogram) testing consisten t wit h departmen t policie s . Troubleshoots equipment. Performs department related clerical duties.Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
1. Obtains patient's medical chart for history of head injury, epilepsy or trauma, and is alert to these symptoms during testing. 2. Instructs patient as to purpose and procedure to be performed. P e r f o r ms el ec tro e n ce ph a lo g r a ms, ambulato r y EE G 's, B AER ' s, VEP and other tests within s c ope of p r ac ti c e. 4. Edits and p re p a res test for rea ding by a ph y sici a n. 5. R e ports f indin g s or c on ce rns to rea di n g ph y sici a n for prompt inte r p re tation. 6. Cle a ns a n d maintains e quipm e nt ( EEG ma c hine a nd acce ssori e s). 7. Uses spe c ific p roto c ol for p a ti e nt wir e s including removal, p r op e r c le a ning a nd sto ra g e. 8. Performs clerical duties, e.g. scheduling appointments, processing reports, answering phones, filing, etc. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in paper and electronic formats. Performs other related duties as required and directed.Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnostic technician program or three years of experience using the 10/20 electrode placement system for EEG testing. BLS certification.Preferred:
Current registration from the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technicians (ASET)Additional Information Schedule:
