Back Monitor Technician - Days St. Dominic Hospital Jackson, MS, United States May 20, 2026 Technician Job Description The Monitor Tech monitors patients EKG rhythm patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in rhythms. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision. Interpretation & Reporting of Cardiac Monitoring Accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and records monitor strips on the cardiac monitoring form on all telemetry patients every 8 hours and as needed. Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the nurse. Recognizes interference and artifact and is able to troubleshoot and correct problems. Recognizes limitations in cardiac interpretation and seeks consultation when appropriate. Responsible for dispensing and retrieving telemetry transmitter. Quality Demonstrates good knowledge regarding medical terminology. Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance through participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training programs. Attends an annual EKG course to maintain proficiency in interpretation of EKG strips. Other Duties As Assigned Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
