Summary :
Serves as a full time EKG work leader, EKG editor that provides order reconciliation, EKG corrections, trouble shoots all EKG orders, EKG errors and medical record issues. Manages daily operational needs to assign EKGs to be read to appropriate physician groups. Serves as an EKG technician to support all shifts when coverage is needed. Performs and documents 12 lead EKGs. Provides basic office support for the EKG department, monthly EKG schedule and assists in the management of call off coverage. Provides EKG information to offices, departments and other facilities. Works to provide EKG services to Crystal Clinic and Summa Rehab on daily basis. Supports both Akron City and Barberton Hospital Campuses. 1.
Formal Education Required :
a. High school level course work in English grammar, composition, and basic mathematics 2.
Experience and Training Required :
a. One (1) year clerical experience b. One (1) year of EKG technical experience 3.
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to attain BLS certification - and maintain certification thereafter b. Demonstrate basic computer knowledge c. Proven moderate typing skills d. Proven moderate computer skills/running reports e. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology f. Maintain confidentiality of patient information g. Must display problem-solving skills and have ability to handle situations quickly h. Ability to work with others consistently demonstrate Suma health System Standards of Behavior i. Ability to perform and document 12 lead EKG test with and without rhythm strips. j. Demonstrated skill in interpersonal communication to effectively interact in person and over the telephone with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital, personnel k. Demonstrated skill in alphabetical/numerical filing l. Demonstrated microcomputer skills; or willingness and ability to acquire such skill to operate application packages used by department (e.g. to enter and retrieve data and/or type routine correspondence m. Ability to obtain selected reports from Epiphany and EPIC as requested n. Ability to perform in a work team environment o. Ability to perform EKGs during Trauma Teams, Stroke Teams, Code Stemis, hospital procedures and stat orders. p. Ability to be self directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure and ability to take initiative to contribute beyond the scope of formal duties (e.g. suggesting innovative ideas and providing feedback on a teams direction) q.
