1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel EEG Technologist for a pediatric setting, requiring ABRET registration and hands-on experience with neonates, infants, and children with special needs up to age 18. Details Pediatric hospital EEG unit serving a highly specialized patient population including neonates, preterm infants, toddlers, children with autism, and patients up to age 18 Performs routine, sleep, bedside, and electrocerebral silence EEG recordings as well as intraoperative EEGs and evoked potential studies Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Weekend availability required On-call may be required depending on the number of EMU patients scheduled No floating required Uses Cerner EMR Block scheduling is available Requirements ABRET registration as a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) required — license required if applicable BLS certification through the American Heart Association required Minimum of 1 year of EEG experience required; 2+ years preferred Pediatric EEG experience required, including neonates, preterm infants, and children with special needs Knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology, basic electronics and electrical safety, EEG instrumentation, and pattern recognition Experience with the international 10-20 electrode placement system Proficiency with electrode application, impedance verification, artifact recognition and management, and equipment calibration Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions in English Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Two professional references required for consideration Additional Information First-time travelers are welcome to apply Responsible for obtaining comprehensive patient histories from patients, families, and medical records, including seizure history, neurological symptoms, and current medications Implements alternative recording methods and adjustments to optimize EEG output, including control settings, extra electrodes, montages, and activation procedures Applies knowledge of pharmacological and medical conditions that may influence EEG readings Expected to recognize and appropriately respond to patient emergencies while maintaining patient safety at all times Participates in departmental conferences and technical meetings Maintains EEG equipment cleanliness and proper working order; troubleshoots and reports equipment issues as needed Adheres to infection control standards for both patients and equipment Scrub color is pewter (gray)Similar jobs in El Paso, TX
