Job Description

Texas Institute for Neurological Disorders (TIND) is hiring an experienced EEG Technician to join our growing neurology team! This is a full-time position split between two Collin County locations: McKinney (3 days/week) and Plano (2 days/week) . The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and confident performing and preparing high-quality studies for physician interpretation. Position Summary The EEG Technician is responsible for performing routine EEGs, and ambulatory VEEG studies , ensuring accurate electrode placement, high-quality recordings, proper documentation, and timely upload/organization of studies for physician review. Schedule & Location Full-time 3 days/week - McKinney clinic 2 days/week - Plano clinic Must be able to travel reliably to both locations Minimum Requirements At least 2 years of hands-on EEG experience (clinical setting) Proven experience performing: Routine EEGs Ambulatory VEEG studies Strong knowledge of: International 10-20 electrode placement system Troubleshooting artifact (movement, muscle, electrode, equipment) Patient preparation, safety, and comfort throughout testing Comfortable working independently in a busy clinic environment Strong computer skills (data entry, file organization, uploading studies, EMR systems) Professional communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and clinic staff Ability to maintain patient privacy and follow HIPAA guidelines Preferred Qualifications (Not Required, but a Plus) AAET or ABRET certification (or eligible and willing to obtain) Experience with pediatric and adult patients Experience coordinating ambulatory setup/takedown and patient instructions for home testing Familiarity with common EEG software and workflows used in outpatient neurology Key Responsibilities Serve as a resource to physicians, clinic staff, patients, and families regarding EEG procedures and expectations Prepare patients for testing, including: Reviewing instructions and contraindications Measuring and marking for electrode placement Applying electrodes and ensuring secure, high-quality connections Perform and monitor studies within scope of practice: Routine EEGs Ambulatory VEEG studies Ensure excellent technical quality by: Recognizing and correcting artifacts in real time Documenting relevant patient events/behaviors during recording Maintaining accurate study notes for physician interpretation Edit and prepare studies for reading by the interpreting physician, including: Confirming correct patient identifiers/accession details (as applicable) Verifying the study is complete, organized, and properly labeled Uploading studies to the correct folders/locations per protocol in a timely manner Communicate urgent findings, quality concerns, or study issues to the reading physician to support prompt interpretation Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot EEG equipment, including: EEG machines, cameras (if applicable), and accessories Following specific protocols for wire removal, cleaning, disinfection, storage, and supply management
