Full Job Description Overview:

Responsibilities:
Carries out a treatment plan in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Maintains clear communication with the attending physician, ED nursing and other members of the healthcare team. Assists In care delivery to include: Taking vital signs, reporting deviation of normal vital signs Perform point of care testing Perform EKG Perform venipuncture & IV insertion Collect lab specimens Assist nursing staff with ED processes during transport downtime (admission, triage, etc .... ) Participate as a driver for the USA Southstar ambulance Promote patient safety and & family centered care Assist with maintaining a well stock orderly environment on the ambulance Document appropriately in the electronic medical record. Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards Regular and prompt attendance Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required Related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Required graduate of an EMT-Paramedic course and 1 year paramedic experience. Required Licensed as a paramedic in the state of Alabama Required ACLS Required or BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
DL NUMBER
- Driver License, Valid and in State Possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama may be required for some positions. Required Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
