Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under close/general supervision by licensed personnel the Emergency Department (ED) Technician/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will perform a variety of functions in support and care of patients requiring urgent or emergency care in the Rapid Care or emergency medical setting. Under the supervision of the Emergency Department Director or delegate the Lead EMT assists in planning organizing, implementing, scheduling, over-seeing, and evaluating the activities of the EMT's by being on-call and available to assist, direct, educate, and answer questions that arise. Also Assists the ED Director with Special Projects and performs other duties as requested.
REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalentSchool diploma or equivalent. Proof of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from an approved institution program or CA Paramedic License. Phlebotomy Certified Preferred but not required. Paramedic licensed allows phlebotomy in their scope of practice. Current BLS Card certification from the American Heart Association.
Training and experience:
Unless otherwise indicated, one year of current experience within the last three years in a comparable job classification required. Maintenance of current Basic Life Support for HealthCare Workers. Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information. Complies with Infection Control, Standard Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional. Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face mask, goggles, latex/non-latex gloves) as needed. Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members. Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English. Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology. Computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite. Accurate and timely keyboarding skills, including word processing and data entry. Proven ability to organize time and tasks. Proven ability to work within multiple departments, receiving direction from multiple sources. Proven ability to estavlish and maintain good working relationships.
