Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs duties related to the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chambers and related support systems. Is responsible for maintenance on the hyperbaric chambers. Monitors and assesses patients in the chamber while undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy and assists in related patient care as a chamber operator.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Essential:
Seeing, hearing, speaking, grasping, fingering, lifting up to ½ pound.
Frequent:
Sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping below waist level, squatting, twisting, reaching above, at and below shoulders, repetitive arm/hand motion, lifting up to 10 pounds.
Occasional:
Kneeling, crouching, climbing, walking on uneven ground, horizontal lift/carry up to 50 pounds, floor to waist up to 35 pounds and pushing/pulling weight to 70 pounds. Operates computer and various office and medical equipment. Operates hyperbaric oxygen chambers.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and communicable diseases. Work environment can be fast-paced and hectic.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
High school diploma or equivalent. Current Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) certification by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology, Active Duty Military Corpsman, current Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) or Paramedic certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), or current Hawaii State license or certification in one (1) of the following: o Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic - Basic (EMT-B) certification o Respiratory Therapist o Physician Assistant o Registered Nurse o Licensed Practical Nurse Current Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Hyperbaric Registered Nurse (CHRN) certification by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology. If not certified, certification must be obtained within two (2) years of entrance into the position. Current BLS certification.
B. EXPERIENCE
Experience to demonstrate: o Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. o Strong working knowledge of
NFPA - 99
Chapter 14, PVHO, CGA, US Navy Dive Tables, NBDHMT, UHMS, and other related hyperbaric codes, standards, & and organizations. o Knowledge of
ICD-10 & CPT
