https://careers.evonik.com/en/about/meet-the-team/ The Emergency Services Officer and Captain serves as the Incident Commander for all emergencies at the site and must be able to work independently while directing others. The Incident Commander assumes all responsibilities for the safety of the site and all personal during an active emergency. The officer will provide medical treatments to employees and visitors to the facility. During normal operational periods, the Emergency Services Officer and Captain is required to manage and support the emergency response team and assigned ESHS programs. Direct contact will include external regularity agencies, internal & external auditors, and Federal, State, & Local emergency organizations
RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain daily briefing from co-workers and command staff. Assist in developing daily shift activity plan. Provide mentorship to ERT personnel. Attend and participate in departmental meetings Provide Incident Command at all site Emergencies Provide EMT medical coverage for the site Complete day to day assigned activities and inspections
REQUIREMENTS
High School Degree Required Bachelor's degree (preferred not required) in a relevant field 5 to 7 years' experience in emergency response preferably in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment.
CERTIFICATIONS PREFERRED NOT REQUIRED
State of Indiana Certification Firefighter I & Il Hazmat Awareness, Operations, and Technician EMT - Basic Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics Instructor I Driver Operator NIMS (100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800) Physical Requirements Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPB). Able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance on a routine basis Able to ascend/descend stairs. Able to enter confined space for internal inspection. Able to work in a high noise/high temperature environment. Able to use stairs and ladders to perform some tasks. Able to use hand tools, for some operations and basic repairs Working Conditions This is a 12 hour day or night position that provides Hazards of Firefighters can include o Biological — Exposure to various blood borne, contagious, and infectious diseases o Chemical — Exposure to various hazardous chemicals Ergonomic — There are many situations where physical demands involve force, repetition, awkward postures, and prolonged activities. Walking or working on your feet for long periods of time Lifting Fire fighters will also work and train using heavy equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and personal protective equipment which may require more effort to perform the same tasks. Exposure to excessive noise levels Exposure to extremes in outdoor weather for long periods of time Psychological — Firefighters are exposed to critical events where there is potential for grave danger.
