Job Description

Summary The EMT-Advanced is a critical member of the team, responsible for delivering advanced emergency and non-emergency medical care and support. This role involves assessing patients' conditions, performing advanced life support interventions, and administering medications as needed during transport. The EMT-Advanced will collaborate with other healthcare professionals and stakeholders to ensure seamless patient care. Key responsibilities include operating advanced medical equipment, documenting patient information accurately, and providing clear communication to patients, staff and facilities. Strong clinical skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential for success in this dynamic environment. The EMT-Advanced will also participate in training and development initiatives to enhance skills and contribute to team excellence.
Job Description:
Baptist Health is looking for a part-time (24 hours per week) AEMT to join our Transport EMS team at Baptist Health Corbin!
  • Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and applicable state scope of practice for an EMT-A.
  • Conducts thorough patient assessments to identify injuries, illnesses, or medical emergencies.
  • Provides basic life support, including CPR, airway management, and use of AEDs.
  • Applies splints, bandages, and other devices to stabilize fractures, dislocations, and wounds.
  • Administers approved medications as per protocols, including oxygen, glucose, and epinephrine.
  • Provides care for a variety of emergencies, including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and trauma cases.
  • Provides compassionate care and emotional support to patients and their families during transport to medical facilities.
  • Monitors vital signs and adjust treatment interventions as necessary to ensure patient stability and comfort.
  • Utilize medical equipment within approved protocol to initiate or maintain patient care.
  • Lifts and moves patients to and from stretchers, frequently lifting more than 250lbs in a team setting.
  • Secures patients properly and monitors their condition during transport to medical facilities.
  • Continuously monitors patient condition and respond to changes during transport.
  • Safely transports patients under various weather and road conditions to medical facilities using designated EMS vehicles while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with receiving medical personnel to provide a detailed patient handover and report on the patient's condition, treatment provided, and any pertinent medical history.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, treatments, and transportation activities.
  • Completes patient care reports (PCRs) in a timely manner, documenting all relevant information according to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and agencies to ensure continuity of care and accurate documentation.
  • Ensures all EMS equipment and supplies are properly stocked, maintained, and functional at all times.
  • Performs routine checks and inspections of EMS vehicles to verify operational readiness and compliance with safety standards per applicable state regulations.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions or vehicle deficiencies to the appropriate personnel for timely resolution.
  • Attends mandatory training sessions, continuing education, and complete annual development courses to stay current with medical practices and protocols per applicable state licensing requirements.
  • Works effectively to collaborate with police, fire, and other emergency response teams during incidents.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency required. EMT-Advanced Certification by the KY Board of
EMS. BLS
for Healthcare Provider issued by AHA or ARC. Other certifications and specialty training as required by the KY Board of EMS. Valid driver's license.
