Haywood Street Respite is a home-like environment where Friends have a chance to rest, recover and be connected to resources and services for identified needs. All specific duties and responsibilities must uphold the unique organizational culture of Haywood Street Congregation and be performed in a manner consistent with the organizational mission and vision.

HSR Medical Manager Position Summary The Weekend Healthcare Professional provides clinical support and health monitoring services to individuals at Haywood Street Respite. This position helps ensure continuity of care seven days per week by delivering health oversight, conducting medical intakes, coordinating medical services, and supporting residents whose healthcare needs extend beyond traditional weekday schedules. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and experienced in working with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and post-acute recovery needs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct weekend medical intakes for new admissions, including collection of health history, current medications, medical conditions, allergies, recent hospitalizations, and other relevant health information. Complete initial health screenings to identify immediate medical, behavioral health, or safety concerns. Review and verify medications brought by new residents and document findings according to organizational policies. Communicate significant intake findings and urgent healthcare needs to the Medical Director and appropriate program staff. Ensure timely coordination of follow-up medical care, medication management, and referrals identified during the intake process. Conduct daily health and wellness monitoring of residents and document observations appropriately. Provide basic care, including vital signs assessment, medication observation and oversight, and health status monitoring. Perform wound care and dressing changes as authorized and appropriate. Monitor residents for changes in condition and identify potential medical concerns requiring intervention. Coordinate with the Medical Director, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers regarding urgent or emerging medical needs. Support continuity of care for individuals transitioning from hospitals, treatment facilities, or other healthcare settings. Assist with medication management processes and monitor adherence to prescribed treatment plans. Facilitate communication between residents and healthcare providers as needed. Support transportation coordination and accompaniment for weekend medical appointments when appropriate. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential health records in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations. Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and activate emergency medical services when necessary. Provide health education and encouragement to support resident wellness, recovery, and self-care goals. Collaborate with case management, recovery support, and program staff to ensure integrated care and resident safety. Certifications Eligible Applicants must possess and be "in good standing" with one of following credentials: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certified Medical Assistant (MA) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Required Qualifications Current certification or licensure applicable to position. Current CPR/BLS certification. Knowledge of basic healthcare practices, infection control procedures, and emergency response protocols. Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality. Valid driver's license, insurance and acceptable driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or post-acute care needs. Experience in recovery services, community health, residential treatment, shelter services, or supportive housing environments. Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and assist individuals as necessary. Occasionally lift 20lbs. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Ability to transport supplies and equipment as needed. Possess a NC drivers license and be able to qualify to drive for Haywood Street Respite (3 or less moving violations, in 3 years) Schedule and expected compensation Part time-20 hrs/week Saturdays and Sundays 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (16 hr a week). Flexible/TBD (4hrs a week) Estimated rate of pay is $23.15-$27 an hour, depending on certification and experience.
