GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs responsible work in rendering emergency and non-emergency medical care and life-saving measures to critically ill or injured persons of all ages on basic and assisting with advanced life support levels. Requires successful completion of the North Carolina State Emergency Medical Services training program or an equivalent training program. Employment is contingent on passing an assessment center, physical agility test, pre-employment drug screen, skills validation program, clinical and operational clearance during the year-long probationary period.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and successful completion of the North Carolina State Emergency Medical Services training program or equivalent training program.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services EMT certification and must have a valid NC driver's license with a three year acceptable driving record. Please submit copy of EMT certification (include out of state certification, if applicable) with application located under Additonal Documents area.
  • Salary is contingent upon the employee working the required scheduled hours per pay period.
  • Pay for attending mandatory continuing education events.
  • We are pleased to announce Assessment 43 is open to accepting applications with hire date of September 28, 2026. Two Assessment Centers are available. The first Assessment Center occurs on July 9th and 10th. The second Assessment Center will be held on July 16th and 17th.
  • You must meet the minimum requirements for the position in order for your application to be forwarded to EMS by Human Resources.
