Part-Time 11-month, aligned with the school calendar Position Summary The Middle School Medical First Responder provides immediate health and emergency care to student athletes, promotes a safe school environment, and supports the overall wellness of the school community. This position serves as the first point of contact for medical needs during athletic practices and events, working with administrators, coaches, and community health providers to ensure the health and safety of all student athletes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide immediate first aid and emergency care for students and staff, including response to injuries, illnesses, and other urgent medical needs. Assess medical situations and determine when advanced medical intervention or emergency services are required. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including documenting visits, treatments, and incidents. Communicate promptly with parents/guardians regarding student medical concerns or incidents. Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, allergies) and assist with care plans. Collaborate with school staff to identify student athletes with health needs and provide guidance on accommodations as appropriate. Promote health, hygiene, and safety practices through athlete education. Ensure proper maintenance of medical supplies, first aid kits, and emergency response equipment. Participate in crisis response and emergency preparedness planning at the school level. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (required). Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), First Responder, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or comparable medical certification (required). CPR and First Aid certification (required; must be maintained). Experience working with adolescents and/or in a school setting (preferred). Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly in emergency situations. Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and state regulations regarding student health information. Work Environment Majority of work performed during athletic practices and events , with frequent movement throughout the building and campus as needed. Must be able to respond quickly to emergency situations anywhere on school grounds. Exposure to illness, bloodborne pathogens, and injuries may occur; proper protective equipment is provided.
