Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Driver/Appointment Aide will be responsible for driving the IRA residents accompanied, by Direct Support Staff, safely to and from designated appointments and assists as needed. The Medical Driver/Appointment Aide serves as support to get individuals to appointments and ensures safety of the individuals by complying with all speed limits and safe driving practices. You will serve as a role model and advocate and ensures individuals' safety by assisting with providing consistent supervision and observation at medical appointments, in the Day Habilitation Setting and/or Residence.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Medical Driver/Appointment Aide is responsible for transporting IRA residents and staff to hospitals, clinics, medical offices, laboratories, and other outside services throughout Rockland County and New York City, ensuring residents' safety at all times. The Driver communicates pertinent information to Direct Support Professionals and assists residents with entering and exiting the vehicle as needed. When not assigned to medical appointments, the Driver may support residence or Day Habilitation staff with tasks such as filing medical documents or scheduling appointments. The Driver follows established procedures for vehicle use, parking, weekly schedules, and prioritizes medical appointments, with additional duties assigned by the Program Coordinator as necessary.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma. NYS valid, non-restrictive driver's license. At least two years of driving experience is required. Some experience or willingness to serve people who are Intellectually/physically disabled.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate clearly and effectively. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, handle or feel, and reach. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

$16.00 per hour
