Description Join Palestine Regional Medical Center in Palestine, TX, a 150-bed hospital that has recently earned the prestigious Leapfrog "A" Safety Grade, the Platinum Award for quality from parent-company ScionHealth, and certification as a Chest Pain Center and Level IV Trauma facility. Job Summary The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for the sick and injured in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements. Working as part of a team, the EMT ensures timely, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. The EMT maintains equipment and vehicles, documents services provided, and supports other clinical and operational duties as assigned. Essential Functions Responds to emergency calls and provides basic life support in line with EMT scope of practice Assesses patient condition, determines nature of illness or injury, and provides appropriate treatment Assists in lifting, moving, and transporting patients safely via ambulance or other approved methods Communicates effectively with dispatch, emergency departments, physicians, and family members Operates and maintains medical equipment including oxygen, suction units, stretchers, and monitors Documents all patient care activities accurately in accordance with department and regulatory standards Maintains cleanliness, readiness, and inventory of emergency response vehicles and equipment Supports emergency room or hospital transport team functions as needed Participates in quality improvement activities and continuing education requirements Follows safety and infection prevention protocols in all patient care activities Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Knowledge of EMT scope of practice and emergency care procedures Strong interpersonal and communication skills under pressure Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergent and unpredictable environments Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic medical records (EMRs) Physical strength and stamina to lift patients and operate heavy equipment Commitment to patient confidentiality, professionalism, and team collaboration Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of an accredited EMT program Licenses/Certifications Current EMT certification in the state of practice required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred Valid driver's license and driving record that meets company standards (if driving responsibilities are included) Experience One (1) year of experience in pre-hospital emergency care preferred
