Job Summary and Qualifications Provides supportive nursing care to meet the needs of individual patients. May provide care to patients under the direct supervision of an RN to their skill level of EMT including; Vital signs, EKG, basic life support, oxygen administration, spinal immobilization, OCL application, sling and swathe application, crutch walking, dressing application and changes, suture set ups, urine specimen collection, application of non-invasive monitoring equipment, wound cleansing and irrigation, observation of behavioral health patients, cleaning and stocking, feeding patients, decontamination of patients, oral suctioning, post mortem care, BVM ventilation, CPR with approved current card, and rounding on patients. What you will do in this role: Collects, reports, and documents data: Vital signs, height and weight, intake and output, and collects specimens. Immediately notifies patient's nurse or charge RN of abnormalities & point of care testing. Therapeutic Interventions Assists with patient activities and care as assigned by the charge RN as indicated by the patient's plan of care and ensures patient safety is forefront in care. Provides for patients' personal hygiene including: linen change, non-invasive and non-sterile treatments, skin care, assistance with elimination, care of incontinent patient Ambulates, positions/repositions patients with altered mobility. Assists with Point of Care Testing Completes and documents treatments, interventions, tests, and procedures in timely and accurate manner. Provides discretionary interventions based on documented competency validation and RN supervision to include: Splinting Placement and removal of peripheral IVs Wound care Sterile dressing change Assists MD with set-up of surgical trays Phlebotomy Throat, nasal swab collection Visual acuity Wound irrigation Cast removal Crisis Management Notifies patient's nurse or charge RN of change in patient condition. Manages patient crisis appropriately. Responds appropriately in Code Blue situations in and outside the ED. Assists with ACLS under physician direction.
